Hi! I’m Makenna, and this is my story.
So I graduated high school in 2016, and that summer I started playing around with hand lettering, brush lettering, calligraphy—all of that.
Fast forward a year later, and here we are. She Sees Truth. So that was short. And that’s because if it was just my story, it would be that short.
But it’s not. Because of my family. So “my story” is really “our story.”
I first started “seeing truth” when I was 6. When I started my relationship with God and professed faith in Him. And as it should be, He is the first and most important person in our story. Without Him, there would be no truth to see.
Now you have to know, I was born into a “special” family. My dad—robotic programming. My mom—marketing. My brother and sister—communications. My sister in law-business. Me—nursing. Which of these things is not like the other?
And so that’s why, without them, I would never dare to do something this risky.
So after God, the most fundamental people in our story are the wise parents Eddie and Christi Gee.
My daddy gets me. He makes me stop and think logically. He stays with me for hours working out logistics for She Sees Truth. I make sure what I design is beautiful, and he makes sure it’s readable. Without him, I would be a mess.
My mom is a powerhouse business partner. She’s been a wife, a mom, a teacher, a writer, a professional. She owns a dozen different websites and one of them was actually She Sees Truth. She decided I was worth investing in; my gift was worth investing in; and so she gave me her website, her time, her finances, and her wisdom. Without her, She Sees Truth would just be a dream.
My Nanny is even selling our stuff in her local business!
And now, my siblings.
I face-timed my brother countless times this summer for help with design. He patiently walked me through all the problems I have had. He got excited with me when an order would come in.
My sister has been my biggest fan and future partner.
And my sister-in-law? Yeah, she’s pretty cool. She’s a boss at project managing, and she’s even my first customer for custom design.
My brother and sister do graphic design for money. I did it for fun. Until now. I can’t count how many times all three of my siblings had an idea of how to turn any talent I had into a business. Well, one of them finally stuck.
So without my siblings, She Sees Truth would not even be a dream.
So there you go. You see how much of that story was about me? Like 3 sentences. My family are the real MVPs.
